Make4Covid is thrilled we’ve been able to team up with the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Industrial Design Department and their Advanced Manufacturing Sciences Institute to produce face shields. This effort was personal to AMSI lab coordinator Jason Butler, whose wife Karen Cape is a nurse at Children’s Hospital Colorado. When Cape informed Butler that new PPE protocols had maxed out resources at the hospital, Butler brought the issue to Robert Park, Ph.D., Lockheed Martin endowed director of the AMSI who gave the project the green light.
Shin, Professor John Wanberg and lab coordinators Will Kellogg and Terry Dreher have been alternating shifts in the departmental lab to maximizing output for the dozen 3D printers that have been running since late March.
MSU’s Art Department is also working to get involved. Adrienne Christy, an art and technology support-staff member and sculpture studio manager Walter Ware have led the charge after hearing about Make4Covid on Facebook.
